During the post punk boom in birmingham, Ricky Cool formed The Icebergs. They were a huge success playing clubs, pubs and theatres. After the Iceburgs Ricky went on to form Ricky Cool and the Rialtos and the Western Swing Outfit , The Texas Turkeys.it was during the time with The Rialtos that he teamed up with Robert Plant to form the first of Roberts Honeydrippers line ups, using members of the Rialtos and a few other midlands heros. While all this was going on Ricky Cool along with peddlesteel player B J Cole in tow also released "i've got a problem with girls, they dont like me". Ricky's next project was really special. Teaming up with ex Chicken Shack and Savoy brown bassist Andy Silvester, they discovered the great Mike Sanchez. Along with Mikes mate Ian Jennings on double bass and drummer John Spinetto, they formed the fantastic "Big Town Playboys". After a spell of not gigging for a while Ricky was asked by his friends the Hoola Boola Boys to front their line up, and so, the new band was formed, enjoying a good midlands following and gigs all over the uk.......................
