There is a treat in store for country music fans when George Hamilton IV undertakes a month-long nationwide tour, starting on September 27th, celebrating his 50th anniversary of entertaining. The only date in the West Midlands is in Stourbridge, at the Talbot Hotel Ballroom on Monday 16th October, 2006.

George's first major recording, 'A Rose and a Baby Ruth' was recorded in June 1956, and became a No. 1 hit and million selling record, to be followed a year later by 'Why Don't They Understand', and 'I know Where I'm Going', both of which also entered the pop charts in the U.K.

Many country hits followed like 'Abilene', 'Break My Mind', 'Early Morning Rain' 'Three Steps to the Phone' 'Steel Rail Blues' 'Truck Driving Man' and one the biggest hits ever in Canada 'Canadian Pacific'.

Throughout the 1970's and 1980's, George hosted his own national television shows in England and Canada, the Canadian shows later being syndicated to New Zealand, South Africa and Hong Kong, as well as the U.K. In 1975, with the blessing of the U.S. State Department, he became the first entertainer to take American music to Moscow, (following four concerts in Prague that drew audiences of 28,000 people.) To date he has performed in nearly thirty different countries, and thoroughly deserves his title as 'International Ambassador of Country Music' given to him by Billboard Magazine.

Arranging the tour, and sharing the stage with George will be his long time friend Tony Goodacre, who is also celebrating his fiftieth anniversary of singing country music. Known as 'Britain's Mr Country Music', a name given to him by B.B.C. radio country music presenters in the 1970's, when it seemed he was singing somewhere nearly every night of the year all over Britain, Tony has also taken his music worldwide with tours of Australia, New Zealand and America as well as Europe, with appearances at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Wheeling Jamboree in West Virginia and the huge Tamworth Country Music Festival in Australia, where in 1988 he became the first non-Australasian artiste to appear there on one of the major country shows.

As well as this 4 week long concert tour all over Britain, both George and Tony mark their 50th anniversaries with special album releases. George has a new C.D. featuring 20 new recordings of many of his biggest hits and most requested songs. Entitled 'Heritage and Legacy 50th Anniversary', this, along with a 100 page 'biopic' souvenir book will be among the items available at the concerts. Tony marks his special year with a 12 CD Box Set, complete with a highly acclaimed souvenir book, featuring the re-release on CD of many of the vinyl albums he recorded in the 1970's and 1980's.
