Sinistra formed in early 2005 when Steve and Simon (guitar and bass) advertised for a singer to front their unique blend of dark, powerful rock - an industrial tinge with influences from the likes of Garbage and The Cure. Their intention was to emulate the setup of Garbage by finding a female vocalist to front the band and compliment their heavy music with pop melodies and charisma. After one or two auditions, Sarah, 18, rolled in and tried her hand at becoming the next Shirley Manson. With idols like PJ Harvey and Patti Smith, she brought in dark lyrics and melodies, and a healthy dose of weirdness. Sinistra went on to play a few gigs in Birmingham with more lined up this year. A CD followed in January 2006, recorded at Glass Onion Studios in Hockley.
