UB40 tribute. The band's beginning was certainly lowly, taking place as it did in 2004 in seedy rehearsal rooms in Piccadilly, Manchester. Just four impoverished musicians and a backing tape machine. Surveying the whole tacky scene before him, Mick Cunningham, founder and manager, in a rash moment, or perhaps a moment of enlightenment, decided with the guys that they had to go for it in a big way and stop 'paddling in the shallows'. The only way forward was the BIG way and be damned. Their minds were made up and so, despite not knowing just how much it was all going to cost, the amount of hard work that was involved and the glaring absence of any set plan, the band was conceived and carried........ and finally hatched in 2005.
Since that shaky start, things have changed dramatically. The band has grown in stature faster than anyone could ever have anticipated. Johnny 2 Bad do now have a plan! They have the unshakeable will to succeed and, most importantly, they have the voice and the players, the support team and the ecstatic audiences behind them.
Johnny 2 Bad are today a united group of pro reggae musicians lead by an astonishing vocalist who is second to none; the best players the UK has to offer.
Presenting such a mighty 8-piece ensemble to the public means utilising a first-rate sound engineer, road crew and the essential 'behind the scenes' support team. The band now has all of these. They have rapidly distinguished themselves as the finest tribute to UB40 there is; a cohesive unit ready to take on all comers and consistently delivering one of the most electrifying LIVE stage shows in the country.
