A fresh new organic style, best served chilled with a dash of ambience and a slither of groove juice. chinaRED are making great strides, cooking up the winning recipe that has been simmering since coming together in January 2005.
The four-piece from Lichfield, Staffs, comprising of Hana Wilmot (vocals), Matt Warburton (Bass), Matt Sellar (drums) and Dave Sellar (guitar), are influenced by the likes of Morcheeba, Bright Eyes, Public Symphony and the Dave Matthews Band.
Previously known as Roo-nayer, the band are working with MAS records (patron Robert Plant), and have performed their original material at many high profile venues which include, The Cavern (Liverpool), The Marrs Bar (Worcester), The Wulfrun Hall (Wolverhampton), The Robin 2 (Bilston), The Sandwell Valley open air festival and the Lichfield Rock and Pop open air festival (One of ten acts selected from over 200 entries).
Although the current line up has been together for little over a year, each band member has gigging experiences beyond this. Matt Warburton was selected to showcase his bass talents at the Lichfield City Class Act (2004 and 2005), Hana Wilmot represented Staffordshire Choir and received a musicians award for playing trumpet, while Dave and Matt Sellar have wrote over 70 songs between them in the 4 years in which they have performed together as part of the same band.
With catchy melodies, backed up by beautiful riffs and rhythms, chinaRED are being tipped by people within the industry, as a band to watch in the future.
