Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) are an English electronic music band formed in Wirral, Merseyside in 1978.
Spawned from an earlier group, The Id, the outfit is composed of co-founders Andy McCluskey (vocals, bass guitar) and Paul Humphreys (keyboards, vocals), along with Martin Cooper (various instruments) and Stuart Kershaw (drums); McCluskey is the only constant member.
OMD released their influential debut single, "Electricity", in 1979, and gained popularity throughout Europe with the 1980 anti-war song "Enola Gay". The band achieved broader recognition via their seminal album Architecture & Morality (1981) and its three singles, all of which were international hits. Steadily resistant to celebrity status, the group earned acclaim for their adventurous recordings, which combined sonic experimentation and atypical subject matter with musical hooks.

Their dazzling 13th studio album The Punishment of Luxury, released 01/09/2017, sees them combine the wistful nostalgia and idealised romance of their previous work, while also side-stepping out of their comfort zone.

The follow up to the critically acclaimed English Electric (released in 2013) The Punishment Of Luxury is a daring collection of stylish synth pop and masterful songwriting which will certainly rank alongside their very best.
