Derek Eynon started out as a bass player in his native Solihull in the Mid 1970's , whilst still a member of the Solihull Youth Choir, and was lead vocalist for the band Night Service who had several radio sessions and scored highly in a Melody Maker national competition. After Night Service split Derek concentrated on bass playing in a succession of rock bands.
In the early 80's Derek as bass player reunited with Night Service guitarist Mark Evans in a new folk rock band, Red Shoes. Two singles were issued and an album, with gigs at major festivals and the NEC, supporting Joe Cocker. The band, without Derek, have recently issued an album in collaboration with Fairport Convention, with Fairport/Jethro Tull bassist Dave Pegg.
Though the 90's Derek was co lead singer in Company Of Strangers, and ZZ Top Trib band Those 3.Redbeards From Texas. He saw out the 90's as bass player with long established Cradley Heath Rock Band Izzy The Push.
Humour has always been a mainstay of Derek's approach, which was very much to the fore in Those 3.Redbeards From Texas and also in his 80's side project The Bongo Brothers who appeared on bills alongside Gary Glitter , The Sweet and Rolf Harris.
Since 2005 Derek has been largely working as a solo singer/guitarist developing a huge repertoire of diverse songs, "laced with a dry and surreal wit - Ryan's guide"
