the online live music gig guide for birmingham & the midlands

Apollo

Formed in February 2004 in a Tamworth suburban garage, Apollo have crammed a massive amount of gigs, recording and exposure into a short amount of time. They blend heavy rock, blues, pop and hardcore into their own unique sound with Sabbath-esque bass lines and meaty guitar licks. A strong undercurrent of raw energy, passion, sheer animal magnetism and pure natural talent permeates in their music; drawing in audiences and leaving them hungry for more. They are loud, melodic, tight and thoroughly entertaining, providing an unforgettable night out – nothing more, nothing less . .

Touring the West Midlands they’ve played in some of Brum’s finest venues from the illustrious Chestnuts, the infamous Dudley JBs, the renowned Actress & Bishop and top venue Bar Academy with more new gigs to come this year. They’ve knocked up a number of tasty CDs, appeared on Kerrang FM’s Breakfast Show with his radiophonic majesty Ugly Phil, reached the finals of the Nationwide Band Idol Competition and the Battle of the Bands at Tamworth’s Palace. Their music can be heard in The Killers documentary DVD and “Pete Doherty – Off the Record” both soon to be released. Radio play in America has happened recently on WDYN Rochester NY and top English rock festival heats have been entered for 2007
