Orgatronics

Orgatronics is the brainchild of Sam Bell and Rich Arthurs who wanted to fuse traditional flamenco and latin instruments and techniques with state of the art electronica and a pop music sensibilty which results in a mutant, ambient latin pop that blurs the boundaries and genres of latin, pop and world music. They have both been familiar figures on the UK latin jazz scene for the last ten years and they bring to the band the style and techniques of Samba, salsa, Bugaloo, bossa nova and flamenco while been influenced more by the rock and pop music of their youth. Sam Bell has been a leading percussionist and conguero on the UK Latin scene for many years and Rich Arthurs is a classsically trained guitarist who went on to study jazz and Brazillian styles. The album MOONFRUIT was written, arranged and produced by Sam and Rich in 2005 before adding the Moog playing of Morcheeba keyboard player Dan Goldman, the evocative voice of classically trained singer Emily Levy and Haggis Horns frontman and trumpeter Malcolm Strachan. Since the album release Orgatronics have been playing live in various line-ups and have recently settled as a quartet featuring Emily, Sam and Rich along with Angus Crabtree on sax and wind synth.
